Let’s craft a puppet theatre!

SAFETY NOTICE

Choking hazard: This kit contains small parts.

Coin cell batteries and LEDs can be dangerous if swallowed.

Read and follow directions on back of batteries.

Adult supervision required during assembly and while engaging with this activity.

BUILD A POP UP THEATRE (FOR VISUALS, SEE VIDEO BELOW).

STEP ONE: Open Pop-Up Theatre with one of three walls double walled.

STEP TWO: Cut square out of double wall to make theatre. If desired, be creative and add theatre curtain details.

STEP THREE: Place plastic maylar sheet to fit in front opening and tape into place from behind.

LIGHT UP LEDS

STEP ONE: Place the battery between the two leads of the LED, with the longer

lead (the anode) touching the positive (+) side of the battery and the shorter lead (cathode)

touching negative (–).

If the LED does not light up, check to ensure the longer lead is touching the positive

side of the battery.

Use clothes pin or cut a a small pIece of electrical tape to secure the LED to the

battery.

CREATE COLORED SHADOWS

STEP ONE: Focus LED lights to cast light on plastic theatre window. For best results arrange with green in the centre.

STEP TWO: Use wooden glimmers to create shadows.

STEP THREE: Remove LED lights from batteries when not in use.
